Software Tips

Installation trouble

Did you install from a cold start? If you have some windows open, close them down and shut down and restart the computer so that nothing else is open.

Is your computer set to autostart CDs? If not, put the disk in the CD drive and open 'My computer'. Click on the CD icon and look for nuffield.exe file. Click this and the installation will start.

Did you read the 'Read me' File? The option to do this comes up early on in the installation process. It explains the procedures.

Part way through the installation you will be asked whether you want minimum, typical or full installation. Most people will want full installation so that the program is always available without the CD. If you think you may not have enough memory to run it like that, try it and see. You can uninstall it very easily if it turns out to be a problem. Full installation gives the best performance. The term 'typical', is rather misleading.

Site license issues

When you pay for the Teachers' Resource Pack, you are buying a site license for both network and stand alone installation. You can install anywhere in your own institution, also at home. Your students may also install it at home if you and they wish. You can make CD copies for your or your own students' use. Of course, you may not pass copies on to teachers in other institutions, or sell any of our material under any circumstances.

Navigation problems

Have you tried the How to?. sheets on pages xvi and xvii of the Teachers Resource Pack? If you work your way through these you will find yourself on a guided tour of the facilities.
