Scheme of assessment

Information about the 'classic' 2000 course.

The Awarding Body is Edexcel.

Assessment is by a combination of written papers and coursework. The written papers include evidence-based questions and extended writing. The coursework takes the form of items from the Portfolio, which consists of investigative activities completed during the course.

AS GCE Economics and Business (Nuffield) 8128

Content:
* Module 1, Objectives
* Module 2, Efficiency
* Module 3, Change

Assessment:
* Unit 1 Written paper on Module 1, Weight: 15% Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
* Unit 2 Written paper on Modules 2 and 3, Weight:20% Time:1 hour 45 minutes
* Unit 3 Two portfolio pieces, one on Module 1 and one on Modules 2 or 3, Weight: 15%
* Not more that 1,250 words per piece.

A2 GCE Economics and Business (Nuffield) 9128
Candidates study Module 4 and two options from the three available.

Content:
* Module 4, Competitiveness
* Option 1, What is the global future?
* Option 2, Can there be certainty?
* Option 3, Competition, conflict or consensus?

Assessment:

Unit 4 Written paper on Module 4, using pre-issued evidence and some new evidence.
Weight: 15% Time: 1 hour 45 minutes

Unit 5 Synoptic written paper based on chosen options.
Weight: 20% Time: 2 hours

Unit 6 Two portfolio pieces, one on each of chosen options.
Weight: 15%

Not more than 1,500 words per piece.
